A principal and the founder of the Firm, Mark practices primarily in the areas of construction and mechanics’ lien law.  He is experienced in business acquisition, general corporate work and all phases of real estate law.  Mark was born and raised in the Columbus Area.  He attended Ohio Dominican College, where he majored in political science and graduated cum laude in 1970.  Mark received his law degree in 1973 from The Ohio State University College of Law, where he again graduated cum laude.  While attending OSU he received The Order of the Coif.

As one of the primary drafters of Ohio's modern mechanics' lien law, Mark lectures frequently on mechanics' lien law and other construction-related topics for bar associations and numerous construction associations and organizations.  He has served as the chairman of both the Construction Law Committee of the Columbus Bar Association and the Law Group of the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio.

Mark is an active member in numerous construction-related organizations and associations.  He belongs to the Builder’s Exchange of Central Ohio, the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio, the Home Builders Association of Ohio and the American Subcontractors Association of Central Ohio, to name a few.  He is a construction panel member of the American Arbitration Association and a member of the Construction Forum of the American Bar Association.

 

Attorney Mark Decker is an experienced arbitrator and mediator, especially in construction related matters including commercial construction, public projects, and residential disputes.  He is available to act as a private arbitrator/mediator.  Arbitration and mediation charges can be by the day, ½ day,  or a reduced hourly rate fee upon request.

Mark and his wife Linda, who is the Firm's bookkeeper, live in Columbus.
